This is the October 2018 blog and since it is now November it is obviously late! Sorry about that – I was in Washington DC for 6 days for my 50th high school reunion plus a little play time being a tourist — then I caught a very bad virus upon my return. Maybe an energy shift? So I got a little behind.

My high school was in Teheran, Iran, and no longer exists because of the 1979 revolution. It was an international school run by the Presbyterian Church, called Community School. There were many different nationalities and religions there; usually we didn’t even know what religion other people were. The big holiday was UN day on October 24, where we had parades and speeches and dances from different parts of the world.

The reunion was like that. There were about 25 or us from Australia, London, Slovenia, Ottawa, Montreal, California, North Carolina, Kansas, and the DC area. Many different professions, a rocket scientist, nuclear physicist, professional translator, lawyer, consultant, etc. plus a founder of a meditation school. The differences between us were not an issue. There was tremendous respect for each other, and curiosity, and friendship even after many years. I didn’t see any completion or gossip.

My first reaction was to send energetic healing…

While we were there bombs were being sent to high ranking Democrats. Then the synagogue shooting happened. My first reaction was to send energetic healing to those who had been killed and to those who had been affected in some way. My second reaction was to ask myself what kinds of prejudices I had that I wasn’t acknowledging, or maybe had acknowledged but hadn’t done anything about. That was interesting because in my high school class there were many Jews who had been persecuted in other countries such as Iraq, and whose families had come to Iran to escape that persecution. Some of them ended up in my school, and in my class, and became obvious to me during the reunion.

And of course there was all the vitriol and disparaging speech during the election. It was all such a weird juxtaposition, to be around people from all over the world with many religions, all getting along great, and then these incidents and hate speech and killings. Such a dichotomy all at the same time.

Women especially felt empowered.

Now that the election is over, we’ve seen how empowered many people became. When Trump got elected, that wasn’t true, many people were depressed and felt disempowered. But this year, so many people did things like run for office and win, when previously that would have been unthinkable. Women especially felt empowered, because they chose to. They weren’t waiting for someone else to help them, they decided to own who they were and to manifest that.

That’s a great lesson for all of us, to see what changes are possible, even in a short period of time. To recognize who we really are and to choose to manifest that in the world, without being anyone’s victim. We get to clean out our doubts and fears and prejudices. In this presidency, lots of pictures get lit up for all of us, and just like in readings at Psychic Horizons, when an issue or picture gets lit up, it’s a healing opportunity, as Judy would say.

We can understand the judgments of others because we have so many ourselves.

I look at these dichotomies that are going on now in our lives as opportunities to clean ourselves out, to heal our judgments of others and of ourselves, and to see who we really are underneath. That gives us personal power but also compassion. We can understand the judgments of others because we have so many ourselves.

So say hello to yourself and to your judgments and prejudices. Own them and decide to clean them out, so you can see more of your true self underneath. You can redefine your identity in a more neutral and compassionate way, which will be of tremendous benefit to you and to those around you.

As always, thanks for supporting Psychic Horizons & the Church of Natural Grace with your sustainable giving! It truly makes a difference, both for us and for you.

Best regards,
Rev. Laura Hopper
