It’s easy to be afraid right now. Not necessarily afraid for our physical well-being, but afraid of the direction of our country, and we simultaneously worry about and condemn our President and some of the political leaders. We’re afraid because we hear the news every day, or read the newspapers and internet, and we see how mean, and political and corrupt things have become. The impact of climate change is becoming more and more apparent. Now the state of our economy is also being questioned.

Notice if you are matching the energy of the news.

Notice if you are matching the energy of how “bad” things are, or how much worse they could become. Notice if you’re matching the energy of the news. Notice if your energy drops as you think about these troubling times.

Separate your energy from the energy of “troubling times”. Put up a rose, and put that energy into the rose the blow it up and get it out of your space. Take back your energy from your anxieties and the fear energy of the news. Re-set your own energy level to the level at which you would like to have it right now.

Fear … creeps into your space, and begins to take over.

Fear is an insidious thing. It creeps into your space, and begins to take over. You might find yourself having anxiety a lot. It’s like an emotional cancer, you know it’s there and don’t want it there, but there it is. It’s caused by a sense of impending danger.

We try to understand it all, as if understanding gives us a sense of enlightenment and makes it go away. We examine things analytically, look at things logically, to figure out why things are happening. But we discover that our logic takes us only so far, that it is limiting and frustrating. We like to see definite ends of things, or beginnings of other things. We tend to go into future time as a way of projecting an end, or envisioning a new beginning. We worry, we obsess. We go into past time, wanting to change how things were. We examine where we are in our lives and perhaps invalidate ourselves for our situation.

We meditate and understand that things happen on many different levels at the same time.

Then we use our psychic abilities. We meditate and understand that things happen on many different levels at the same time. But we still don’t understand everything and we haven’t solved everything, and we invalidate ourselves for that, too. We hate it that we’re still afraid.

Now the sense of impending danger, the fear, tends to take on a life of its own. It’s like a very contagious dis-ease, everyone catches it. Everyone catches it and everyone matches it. Then it takes over because everyone has given up seniority to it.

So you need to breathe. Bring your attention into the present. Notice your breathing, the noises in the room you’re in, the noises outside. Notice how your body feels in the chair. Notice that everything is ok where you are. Notice that, regardless of your situation, everything is ok with you right now.

During times of upheaval and great difficulty for the Israelites, the prophets were speaking.

During times of upheaval and great difficulty for the Israelites, the prophets were speaking. One of them was Isaiah. In Isaiah 40: 1, 3-5 it says,

Comfort, comfort my people, says your God…a voice of one calling:
In the desert prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.
And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all humankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

So here he’s talking about taking comfort on the one hand, and great upheaval on the other. He’s talking about the glory of the Lord being revealed, and all of us will see it together.

But we don’t see it, and we don’t take comfort in upheaval.

Say hello to the planet. Let yourself be intuitively aware of how the planet goes about its changes. Match the energy of the planet for a minute. Notice how solid the certainty of the planet is. The planet is here and accepting of what is happening. Even through upheaval on many levels, the planet is flexible and forgiving. There is change, but the planet understands that movement, flow and change is the nature of itself.

…The planet is accepting of what is.

In that sense, the planet is centered, the planet has certainty, the planet is in communication with itself, the planet is accepting of what it is. Say hello to that.

Separate from all your worries, anxieties and fears for a moment. Let them go, ground them out. Clean out everyone else from the center of your head – your parents, your spouse, your partners, your friends, your co-workers, your guides, the politics. Let yourself be centered within yourself. Go deeper into the center of your head. Experience your own vibration.

We all have that same centeredness, that same certainty, that same self communication that the planet does. We can even have that same self acceptance. We can understand that change is the natural way of the world, even if we don’t like it. We can also understand, as many spiritual disciplines understand, that change, even a sense of impending danger, also brings opportunity.

We can even have that same self acceptance.

Say hello to your centeredness that you can always rely on. Just as the planet has its own centeredness, so do you. Allow it to come in and be a part of you, as it already is. Allow that centeredness to be a part of everyone else as well.

In Psalm 46, it says:

Be still, and know that I am God.

Give yourself permission to be more in communication with yourself, to know that your God is within you and ever present. This way you can be separate from the changes even as you perceive them, and remain at peace with yourself even as there is external turbulence.

Remember that with all of this dysfunction going on, there is opportunity.

Remember that with all of this dysfunction going on, there is opportunity. There is opportunity to create anew, to envision what we want now as the old ways of doing things are being dismantled. We can participate in that creation.

It is an opportunity for all of us to keep our energy high, to laugh and to remember all the things about being alive that we love. We can remember all the people in our lives that we love, and who love us.

As Bob Dylan said, “Things are a-changin’”, and we can be in charge of our own changes.

Say hello to the God of your Heart, bend over the balance.

As always, thanks for supporting Psychic Horizons & the Church of Natural Grace with your sustainable giving! It truly makes a difference, both for us and for you.

Best regards,
Rev. Laura Hopper
