Meet the Staff
The staff at Psychic Horizons all share a commitment to foster growth and change in a safe and structured environment. Staff members continually hone their intuitive skills through their daily participation with students and each other, and their own personal meditation practice. Many of our teachers have been teaching for over 20 years, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to each class they teach.
Rev. Laura Hopper, Founder and Director
Laura was raised in Iran by missionary parents and has lived in various parts of the United States. In college she was involved in politics and was heading for law school. However, she came to San Francisco instead. She began working in an investment banking firm and was dragged to a meditation class by a friend. "As soon as I walked in the door of that first class I know that's what I would do with my life."
"People ask me why I got into this line of work. Initially, I didn't know except that it seemed like my calling. Previously I had tried to meditate on my own but did not feel like I was getting anywhere. I needed tools to meditate and I have discovered that other people do, too. I have changed from being an insecure, depressed person into someone with confidence, able to work well with people. I love watching the changes people go through — and the practical impact on their lives — by using this meditation for themselves."
Rev. Judy Tergis
Judy is the mother of four children and has owned her own computer store as well as managed other businesses. She began teaching at Psychic Horizons in 1988. She has also taught meditation tools to corporate clients.
"We teach what we wish to learn. That's why I've been teaching others to develop their psychic awareness since 1988."
Rev. Michelle Comeau
Michelle is retired from a supervisory position with UPS. She has sung with classical, rock and bluegrass music groups. She loves walking, reading and gardening, and is an avid world traveler.
"I have more self-confidence and have let go of a lot of apathy and pessimism. I have much less fear. These tools and spiritual concepts resonate for me - I love watching students heal themselves; I appreciate their strength, it is inspiring."
Rev. Bruce Van Horn
A retired pastry chef, Bruce is a staff teacher and also the administrator of Psychic Horizons. He began teaching at Psychic Horizons in 1994, including doing outside workshops for special interest groups such as churches and writers' groups. His main hobbies are baking and writing.
"By being at Psychic Horizons, I've gained increased presence of mind, increased spiritual clarity and learned to enjoy my life. I can see the relationship between spirituality and daily life. I use that understanding every day. Teaching gives me a chance to be a part of another's spiritual journey; which, in turn, helps me on my own journey.
Rev. Lawrence Nallan
Lawrence was born in Suva, the capital of Fiji. At a very young age he was exposed to different forms of religious teachings, and he always wanted to learn how to meditate; even though, prayer is a form of meditation. Immigrating to America, he felt uprooted and without friends since there was no social media at the time.
“Finding Psychic Horizons completed my search for a school of meditation and healing with a gift of a wonderful community. Every time I teach, I learn something new that helps me with my growth. Seeing the changes people go through; including myself, within a short time is amazing to observe”.
Rev. Maurizio Bronzetti
Rev. Bob Evans
When I first found psychic horizons' I felt very disconnected and checked out in my life. Through the school and through meditation I was able to reclaim myself and connect with spirit in my own unique way.
I wanted to become a teacher because I enjoy helping others find their own way. I love to see the personal growth people experience when they commit to themselves.
Rev. Lili Hibarino
Lili was born and raised in Brazil and became aware of her intuitive gifts at a very young age. Throughout her life, she always had a deep interest in spirituality but would hide her abilities out of fear and judgement.
After going through a series of challenging experiences, Lili started to desire a change. Psychic Horizons came in as her soul calling. “My life has transformed, I felt empowered and confident not only to share my abilities
and help others but also make inner changes that translated into my outside world.”
Rev. Leah Shapiro
Rev. Leah graduated from Psychic Horizon's Clairvoyant Training Program in 1992. She subsequently moved to Oregon, so the graduate programs were not available to her. She spent the next 30 years raising her two daughters and building a career in sales.
In 2020, during the pandemic, Leah discovered that all of Psychic Horizon's classes were on Zoom, so she decided to continue her training from where she left off. Leah did the Apprenticeship program and the Teach-in-Training program. She has been teaching Step 1, workshops and focus classes ever since. She is happy she found her way back!
Rev. Philippe Jestin
Philippe is a visual artist living and working in 29Palms, Southern California since the end of 2019, a few month before the start of the Pandemic. Before that he lived and worked in San Francisco for 25 years and, like many of the students at the school, tried a Free Intro Class on a Tuesday evening went in 2003. He began teaching at Psychic Horizons in 2007.
“The tools I learned at the school have helped me be aware of myself and through this self observation be more responsible and grounded in my path. The thing I enjoy the most with teaching is witnessing the growth and sometimes rapid changes happening to the students in this meditation program.”
Rev. Nanette Santos
I was born and raised in the Philippines, where generosity and being available to others are deeply ingrained values. At Psychic Horizons, I learned tools to establish healthy levels of responsibility that allow others to take ownership of their growth.
This, along with other meditation tools, is what I continue to practice and aim to share with our community of students.
